Pure sandalwood oil. A woody, creamy smoke with centuries of use behind it.

Sandalwood comes from the Santalum genus, a slow-growing family of trees that has been harvested for its oil since the Vedic period. In India it is known as chandan. In Mysore, where some of the finest varieties grow, it is considered a royal material. The scent is warm and woody, with a creamy undertone that sits quietly in a room long after the smoke has settled.

This incense carries pure sandalwood oil at Grade 1.1. It is hand-rolled in small batches using a recipe carried across generations, with a natural resin base that supports the oil rather than competing with it. The result is a clean, considered burn that rewards a still room.

How to use

Place the stick in a ceramic or stone holder. Light the tip and allow it to catch for thirty seconds. Blow gently until the flame subsides. The smoke will carry for approximately forty-five minutes. The warmer the room, the more the oil opens.

Sandalwood works well during a work session, in the early evening, or as the close of a day. It is not a demanding smoke. It asks nothing of you while it burns.

What is in it

Spring water, pure bamboo charcoal, sandalwood powder, vanilla powder, gum elemi, makko powder, tragacanth gum, Arabic gum, gum opoponax, gum labdanum, gum copal, mastic, gum dammar, myrrh resin, frankincense resin. A note on Grade 1.1

Grade 1.1 is the entry point in this range, and it is worth understanding what that means. The oil load is lower than Grade 1.2 or 1.3, which makes the smoke lighter and the scent more open. For sandalwood, this works in the oil's favour. The wood note comes through clearly without the density that a heavier grade would bring.
